Peppered Moths

The peppered moths (Biston Betularia) is used as an example for “evolution in action,” have been actually exposed as unscientifical and fraudulent.

The textbook story was that when the industrial revolution blackened the tree trunks where dark nad light peppered moths rested during the daytime, the light-colored moths in the population became visible to bird predators, resulting in a preponderance of the dark-colored forms, this phenomenon was

was called “industrial melanism.” What our biological textbooks don’t explain, however, is that biologists have known since early 80′s that the story has some serious flaws.

One of the detrimental flaw is that peppered moths B. betularia in the wild don’t rest on tree trunks. it appeared, that textbooks photographs, have been staged. Dead and sedated moths were placed on tree trunks (see illustration above) where the moths were never observed to rest.

Evolution Going On Today?

Perhaps the best example of darwinian selection is the one that’s in all biological textbooks: peppered moths. Hard die evolutionists commonly cite the case of peppered moth of England as a striking example of present day darwinian evolution. H. B. Kettlewell’s experiments went like this:

The moth comes in light and dark (melanic) forms. Pollution from the industrial revolution darkened the trunks, mostly by killing the light-colored covering lichen (plus soot). The lighter forms, which had been well camouflaged against the light background, now “stoodout,” and so birds more readily ate them. Therefore, the proportion of dark moths increased dramatically. Later, as pollution was cleaned up, the light moth became predominant again. [Jonathan Sarfati, Refuting Evolution, Master Books, p. 203]

Problems With The Evidence

Like many so-called proofs for Darwinian evolution this particular observation has flaws and deceit.

First of, we all know that moth are night-fliers, and normally find resting places on trees before morning. Since 1980, evidence has accumulated rest on tree trunks. Scientist, observed that “the normal resting place of the peppered moths (B. betularia) is beneath small, horizontal branches, not on narrow twigs. Other scientists supported this conclusion about moths do not normally rest on tree trunks.

Rory Howlett and Michael Majerus wrote;

“It seems certain that most B. betularia rest where they are hidden,” and “exposed areas of tree trunks are not an important resting site for any form of B. betularia.”

You may ask, So? Why all these commotion? Well the bottom line is if moths do not rest habitually on tree trunks then where all these pictures of allegedly B. betularia on tree comes from?

The tree trunk moths illustrations therefore must be staged. Artificial that is. As a matter of fact, some are made using dead specimens that are glued or pinned to the trunk. In other words, the supposed evidence for “evolution in action” is simply fraud, manufactured to cheat the “ignorants.”

Second, even if it is true, it does not tell us “evolution” (moths to non-moths species) but rather, natural selection in action. Evolutionist and biologist L. H. Matthews, writing in the foreword to the 1971 edition of Darwin’s Origin of Species said, Peppered moths are a beatiful demonstration of natural selection ” they do not show evolution in progress.”

So, the actual theory of evolution, namely, changes capable of turning microbes into moths were not observed! Furthermore, this process did not produce anything new. It did not result in increased complexity and organization.

Despite the fraudulent, the concept still fails to prove evolution in the molecule-to-man sense. Regrettably, hundreds of millions of students have time and time again been indoctrinated with a “proof” of evolution which is riddled with error, fraud and half-truths.
